THE PROJECT
Progress Bar is a transmedia experience that engages students with resources and communities to help guide their academic path and provide a way for students to share individual passions.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Target undergraduate Ball State University students who are questioning or losing engagement in their current major or field of interest with a transmedia experience that raises awareness of the importance of making connections with other students, experts, and resources in their chosen or potential fields of interest and assists with making those connections.
HOW IT WORKS
Students share a story of how they chose their major in college and have the opportunity to ask questions of experts–professors, alumni and professionals. The project team connected the questions to experts and distributed answers via social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, WordPress blog). A culminating event was held at the College of Communication Information and Media at Ball State University to encourage participation and connections with campus resources (Career Center, Office of Student Life).
MY ROLE
As the marketing and outreach coordinator, my role included researching the target demographic, creating a social strategy around Progress Bar’s content and events, managing two social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter), and developing partnerships with community groups to share resources and collaborate on the culminating event.
